The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with the second meeting of its newly formed Election Manifesto Committee scheduled to take place on April 4, according to party sources.
The BJP's manifesto for the seven-phased polls is likely to be titled 'Modi Ki Guarantee,' reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign pitch for the electoral contest.
Sources suggest that the BJP may unveil significant promises for farmers in its list of poll pledges. This could include announcements related to a hike in fiscal assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. These promises assume importance as farmer unions have been pressing for various demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and loan write-offs.
The inaugural meeting of the BJP's manifesto committee was held on Monday under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Discussions centered on incorporating suggestions and feedback received from the public into the manifesto.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, the co-convener of the committee, highlighted the meaningful discussions held during the meeting and reiterated the party's commitment to addressing diverse issues raised by stakeholders.
Goyal emphasized the BJP's meticulous approach to manifesto preparation, stating that every issue is taken seriously and discussed thoroughly before being included in the manifesto. He mentioned that the committee deliberated on topics ranging from the party's vision for 'India@2047' to the outline of the government's agenda. The resolution letter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the third term was also discussed during the meeting.
With the formation of the manifesto committee, the BJP has initiated the process of preparing its manifesto, which aims to outline the roadmap for a developed India ('Viksit Bharat'). The committee comprises 27 members, including 11 ministers and four chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman serves as the convener, while Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal acts as the co-convener.
The BJP's Election Manifesto Committee was announced recently in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The electoral battle for 543 Lok Sabha seats will commence on April 19, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4. In the previous elections, the BJP emerged victorious, winning 282 seats in 2014 and 303 seats in 2019, consolidating its position as a dominant political force in India.
