In Tamil Nadu, the BJP has formed an alliance with Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) after its previous alliance with AIADMK came to an end last year. The upcoming elections will witness a direct contest between the ruling DMK and the main opposition AIADMK in 19 Lok Sabha constituencies across the state. Notable segments include Chennai North, Chennai South, Coimbatore, Salem, and Erode, among others.
Polling for Tamil Nadu's 39 Lok Sabha seats is scheduled to take place in the first phase on April 19. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP failed to secure any seats from Tamil Nadu. The DMK emerged victorious with 23 seats, followed by the Congress with eight seats and the CPI with two seats.
Overall, the Lok Sabha elections, spanning 543 seats nationwide, will be conducted in seven phases starting April 19, with an estimated 97 crore eligible voters across the country.
