Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth, renowned singer Kailash Kher, and business moguls Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani were among the distinguished guests at the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Council of Ministers on Sunday.
Modi secured his position as prime minister for a record-equalling third term, leading a 72-member Union Council of Ministers in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
Top industrialists attending the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan included Mukesh Ambani, accompanied by his sons Anant and Akash, along with son-in-law Anand Piramal. Gautam Adani was present alongside his wife Priti and brother Rajesh Adani.
Notable actors in attendance comprised Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher, and Vikrant Massey.
Approximately 8,000 attendees filled the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt for Modi's swearing-in on Sunday evening. Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and his wife, as well as former president Ram Nath Kovind, graced the occasion. Spiritual leader Swami Rambhadracharya and many other seers were also present.
Kovind was observed exchanging greetings and interacting with Swami Rambhadracharya during the event.
Modi's achievement mirrors that of the inaugural prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who secured victories in the 1952, 1957, and 1962 general elections.
In addition to Modi, 30 cabinet ministers and five ministers of state with independent charge were sworn in, alongside other members of his council of ministers.
Kher, upon exiting the Rashtrapati Bhavan, was approached by enthusiastic fans. Speaking to reporters, he expressed, "People have entrusted him with the opportunity to serve the country as PM for the third time. He is the country's leader," and concluded by singing 'Jay Jaykara...'.
