The Congress party finally announced candidates for three Lok Sabha constituencies of Jharkhand late on Wednesday evening.
These seats include Lohardaga, Khunti and Hazaribagh.
Tickets have been allotted to Kalicharan Munda from Khunti, Sukhdev Bhagat from Lohardaga and JP Patel from Hazaribagh.
The Central Election Committee of Congress announced the names of 14 candidates from 4 states after a meeting in Delhi on Wednesday.
Kalicharan Munda, a traditional Congress candidate, will contest from Khunti Lok Sabha seat against BJP's Arjun Munda.
In the 2019 elections, he gave a tough fight to Arjun Munda and had to face defeat by a very narrow margin.
He was defeated by Union Minister Arjun Munda in 2019 by a slim margin of 1,445 votes.
In Lohardaga, Congress fielded Sukhdev Bhagat, who had lost to BJP's Sudarshan Bhagat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The biggest name on the list is JP Patel, who recently left BJP and joined the Congress.
Patel has been given a ticket from Hazaribagh, a Kurmi area where Kurmi votes matter a lot.
Congress insiders said that the name of the candidate for the Ranchi seat has not been finalised yet.
It is believed that the name of the Congress candidate for the Ranchi seat will be announced in a day or two.
Speaking about the seat allocation, JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said, “We have apprised them (Congress) of our feelings.
We had two formal meetings, where seat-to-seat discussions were held. Congress has to make a decision based on ground reality.
If the decision comes in keeping up the ground reality, it will be welcomed. But, the decision should not have any flaw that puts hindrance in the mega battle coming ahead.”
“We say this again and again ‘Seat nahi Jeet guarantee (Winning should be the guarantee, not seats)’’.
Congress has to decide as it is the grand old party,” he added.
However, State Congress Spokesperson Rakesh Sinha said “This not important for us which seats will be left by whom, but it is important as to how to defeat the proud government. We are united for the same.
Time will come soon when you will get to know which seats are being fought by whom to defeat the NDA.”
