The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in 25 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, according to data from the Election Commission. However, despite this success, their vote share experienced a slight decline, dropping to 61.86 per cent from 63.11 per cent in the 2019 elections.
In a closely contested election, the combined vote shares of the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), both members of the INDIA bloc, amounted to 33.93 per cent. Within this, Congress garnered 31.24 per cent of the votes, while the AAP managed 2.69 per cent.
Notably, the Congress claimed one seat, Banaskantha, from the BJP in a closely fought battle. This victory interrupted the BJP's bid for a third consecutive win in all 26 seats within the home territory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Despite their efforts, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to secure victory in Bharuch and Bhavnagar, where they fielded candidates as part of the INDIA bloc.
Comparing to the 2019 elections, where Congress contested independently and failed to secure any seats, their vote share stood at 32.55 per cent, as per EC data.
In addition to the major parties, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by Mayawati, contested all 26 seats but only managed to secure a vote share of 0.76 per cent. This was notably lower than the portion of votes that went to NOTA (None of the Above), which stood at 1.56 per cent.
