The Congress party has finally fielded Devinder Singh Jaggi, former Mayor of Dharamshala Municipal Corporation, in Dharamshala Assembly constituency in Kangra district for the by-poll on June 1.
The AICC announced his ticket in the evening today.
Jaggi faces Congress rebel, and former Congress minister, Sudhir Sharma, who is contesting on a BJP ticket after disqualification from the Assembly, in Dharamshala.
With this, Congress has now declared candidates for all four Lok Sabha seats and six Assembly segments, which are going for by-poll simultaneously with Parliament polls.
Sudhir Sharma, who won the election on a Congress ticket in Dharamshala in the 2022 Assembly polls, has already done much spadework in the constituency by now. Jaggi however has little time left in the run-up to polls because of the delay in ticket announcement.
