The All India Congress Committee today declared two candidates, a minister and an MLA, for two Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh for polls slated on June 1.
The party has fielded Public Works Department Minister, Vikramaditya Singh from Mandi Parliamentary Constituency and MLA from Kasauli Vinod Sultanpuri from Shimla (reserved), according to a release by AICC.
The party is yet to decide on candidates for Kangra and Hamirpur seats in Himachal Pradesh.
Vikramaditya faces Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut in Mandi, while Vinod Sultanpuri is pitted against sitting BJP MP Suresh Kashyap.
Both Vikramaditya (two-time MLA in a row) and Suresh Kashyap (first-time MLA) have entered the Lok Sabha battlefield for the first time.
Kangana Ranaut (BJP) hails from Sarkaghat in Mandi district and Vikramaditya Singh ( Congress) from Rampur Bushahr in Shimla district, which falls in the Mandi Parliamentary constituency.
Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, and Vikramaditya’s mother Pratibha Singh is the sitting MP from Mandi.
Suresh Kashyap (BJP) hails from the Sirmaur district and Vinod Sultanpuri ( Cong) from the Solan district in the Shimla Parliamentary constituency.
Sultanpuri's father has represented the Shimla Lok Sabha seat six times in a row.
