As the poll dates inching closer for the four phase Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand, contestants have revved up their poll campaigning, especially using social media to target youths.
Elections for 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state are to be held in four phases on 13, 20, 25 May and 1 June.
Candidates who have become the face of Lok Sabha elections from different parties are continuously sharing posts from their social media handles on X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other handles.
Candidates are uploading four to seven posts in 24 hours to attract the attention of the youth. In order to promote social media posts, banners, posters, and glimpses of contact programs, a trend of Rawls is visible.
Among the prominent candidates of the State, there are several leaders, who have a very strong media follower base. Among the top three leaders in the list, Union Minister Arjun Munda, MP Dr Nishikant Dubey and MoS for Education Annapurna Devi have lakhs of followers.
Khunti MP Arjun Munda has 2.54 lakh followers on X, 1.76 lakh on Facebook and more than 30.8 thousand followers on Instagram. At the same time, Dr. Nishikant Dubey has 2.97 lakh followers on Facebook, 1.76 lakh on X and 65.2 thousand on Instagram.
Union Minister and Koderma MP Annapurna Devi has 1.65 lakh followers on Facebook, 73.9 thousand on X and 31.6 thousand on Instagram.
To connect and motivate voters through social media handles, candidates have now started hiring social media volunteers. Some candidates have also hired agencies for publicity through his social media handle, so that the information about their activism and work can reach the people.
There are many candidates, who had earlier kept distance from social media, but after being selected as the Lok Sabha candidate, they are seen active again in their social media handles.
