Prajwal Revanna's mother, Bhavani Revanna, has taken legal action by filing an anticipatory bail plea in connection with a kidnapping case. This move comes amidst ongoing legal proceedings surrounding her husband, HD Revanna, who was previously arrested in the same case.
The case, handled by the Special Investigative Team (SIT), involves allegations against five individuals, including HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna's father.
HD Revanna's arrest on April 29 stemmed from accusations related to a kidnapping case registered at the Holenarasipura town police station. The allegations involve claims of sexual assault against HD Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, who serves as the Member of Parliament for Hassan.
Despite the legal challenges, Prajwal Revanna released a self-made video asserting his intention to cooperate with the SIT investigation. He clarified that his travel plans were made before any legal issues arose, emphasising his belief in the judicial process and denying any involvement in a political conspiracy. Prajwal Revanna also expressed regret to his family, party supporters, and constituents for the situation.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has intervened, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action regarding Prajwal Revanna's diplomatic passport. The request comes amidst allegations that Prajwal Revanna had travelled to Europe following accusations of misconduct.
Notably, Prajwal Revanna remains an active participant in politics, contesting for re-election as the NDA candidate in the 2024 general elections from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka.
His legal challenges have added complexity to his political journey, prompting scrutiny from both legal authorities and political opponents.
