Himachal Pradesh's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Maneesh Garg, took a creative approach to promote voter awareness by releasing cycling t-shirts with a special message encouraging people to cast their votes.

Jaspreet Paul, the state's election icon and an enthusiastic cyclist and professional photographer from Mandi, has been appointed to spearhead the voter awareness campaign. His mission is to inspire the youth to participate in the electoral process and emphasise the importance of voting.

Paul, along with his team, plans to conduct cycling expeditions and rallies across different regions of Himachal Pradesh, including the remote Tashigang village, home to the world's highest polling booth at 15,256 feet in Lahaul and Spiti district.

Recognizing his dedication, the Election office named him as the State election icon on April 8, 2024, as part of the Maha Utsav of Democracy initiative, aiming to engage young voters and highlight the significance of their participation.

During the launch event, Additional CEOs Dalip Negi, Neelam Dulta, and OSD SVEEP Neeraj Sharma joined Garg in promoting the voter awareness campaign.

With the nomination process commencing on May 7 and concluding on May 14, Himachal Pradesh gears up for elections to its four Lok Sabha seats and by-polls for six assembly constituencies. These by-polls were necessitated by the disqualification of six rebel Congress MLAs.
