Himachal CM Sukhu said, “It's not an ordinary election in Himachal, it's between honesty and dishonesty and will set the course of future politics in the hill state.”
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today appealed to all the voters of the state to cast their vote on June 1 and said that this time the election is between honesty and dishonesty.
In a statement released here, he said that the election is the biggest festival of democracy and everyone's participation in this festival is very important.
"Every vote is precious in the election. It is not an ordinary election. It will set the course of future politics in Himachal, " he said. He said it was time to ‘teach a lesson’ to those who have tried to buy votes with money power.
The Chief Minister said that during the last one-and-a-half-year tenure, the Congress government stood by the people of the state in every happiness and sorrow.
"During the disaster, the Congress government gave a special package of Rs 4500 crore and rehabilitated 22,000 affected families," he said.
Sukhu said that the Congress government implemented the Old Pension Scheme for 1.36 lakh government employees as promised.
“In 15 months of rule, the dearness allowance was increased by seven per cent and the diet money of police personnel was increased to Rs 1000. Along with this, the arrears of pensioners are also being cleared.”
The Chief Minister said that the Congress government has implemented welfare schemes for all sections. He said that the Congress government started a scheme to give Rs 1500 pension to women, but the BJP created obstacles in this also.
Sukhu said that the Congress government increased the MNREGA wages from Rs 60 to Rs 300. “Apart from this, provisions have been made like free education for children of widows up to the age of 27 years and financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh for widows to build houses. By adopting 4000 orphan children of the state as Children of the State, the responsibility of their maintenance and education has been legally made the responsibility of the state government.”, he added.
He said that the Congress government was providing free treatment of up to Rs 25 lakh to the elderly above the age of 70 years.
The Chief Minister further said that the Congress government raised the support price of apples and mango from Rs 1.50 to Rs 12 per kilogram.
For the first time, he said that the purchase of apples per kilo was ensured and in the ensuing apple season, the sale would be in universal cartons. He said that for the first time in the country, a support price was introduced for milk. The cow milk was being purchased at the rate of Rs 45 and buffalo milk at the rate of Rs 55 in the state.
" We will dedicate each day of the next three and a half years of this tenure for public service," he said.
