Raking up the Ram temple issue in his poll rally in Mandi, the land of Gods known as ‘Chhoti Kashi’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the hill state had made a big contribution in ending the 500-year-old struggle for the Ram temple.

In his second election rally in Himachal Pradesh, Modi said the resolution for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya was adopted by the BJP’s working committee in Palampur, which is near Mandi.

“The task was completed because of your vote,” he said.

“The people of Himachal Pradesh are happy about the Ram mandir, but the Congress party is not feeling good. They would have never done it ” he added.

Modi said the Congress party was moving backwards and wanted a poverty-ridden country, with people surrounded by problems. He said the Congress party was orthodox in thinking and wanted to take the country towards the 19th century again.

“The Congress party is saying that it would take back the decisions on abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, CAA and some other issues. It wants to take reverse gear,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the Congress party’s ugly remarks on BJP candidate for Mandi Lok Sabha, Kangana Ranaut were an insult to Mandi, the land of Rishi Mandav, and its people. He said the ‘Shahi parivar’ of Congress had not even apologised over that.

“Kangana is not just a candidate. She represents the aspiration of our daughters,” he said, urging the people to vote for Kangana Ranaut in Mandi and BJP candidates on other three Lok Sabha seats and six Assembly by-polls to contribute to the state's development.

He said his government had supported the women to progress and explore.

He said he had opened the doors of the Sainik Schools and Defense Academy for the girls and there is no limit for the girls to live their dreams.

Modi said the Centre had released the relief money for the disaster that struck Himachal Pradesh, but the present Congress government in Himachal Pradesh misused it for other purposes. “I will find it out and get the people of Mandi their due in this regard,” he said.

He said the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh had not fulfilled its poll guarantees, whether it was about Rs 1500 to women or jobs to the youth of the state. He said the Congress government had locked the institution meant for recruitment, thereby locking the future of youth. He said the government in Himachal Pradesh was taking the state to the path of destruction.

“But this won’t last long. We need your support to take Himachal out of the clutches of the Congress party,” he said.
