The Lok Sabha election in Mandi may turn interesting with Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President and sitting MP, Pratibha Singh, who had earlier refused to contest citing some reasons, now toning down and indicating that the final decision on the ticket rests with the party high command.

“The issue about my candidature came up for discussion in the Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday. The Chief Minister also said that I should be the candidate.

I have talked about some problems and have taken up some issues with them, mainly for the party men that they should be given precedence. Some people have been accommodated also, and some more may be taken in times to come.

Let us see what the party decides,” Pratibha Singh, three-time MP from Mandi said in an interview to a local channel today.

She said the party workers will also play an active role in the elections if they are given importance in the government.

Asked about her competition versus a Bollywood actress, Kangna Ranaut, Pratibha Singh said every election is a challenge. “It is up to the people, who they like and who they choose.”

She said she had been taking up the issues of people as an MP sincerely.

The HPCC chief said the Congress government has done good work in Himachal Pradesh, whether it was about providing relief to the disaster-affected people last year increasing the price of milk to boost the economy of farmers or making provision for Rs 1500 per month for women.

She said the Congress party will get good results in the Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly by-polls in the state. “People have given mandate to the Congress party to run the state for five years,” she added.
