Several prominent figures, including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Bhagwanth Khuba, and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, kick-started the voting process by casting their votes early in Karnataka. The state is witnessing the second phase of Lok Sabha elections across 14 segments today.
Pralhad Joshi and Bhagwanth Khuba, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as candidates from Dharwad and Bidar Lok Sabha constituencies respectively, exercised their voting rights in their respective segments.
Joining them, BJP's Davangere candidate Gayathri Siddeshwara, accompanied by her husband and incumbent BJP MP G M Siddeshwara, also participated in the voting process.
In addition to BJP leaders, senior BJP MLA and former Union Minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal was among the early voters in Vijayapura, adding to the momentum of the electoral process.
Voters, particularly senior citizens, morning walkers, and joggers, turned out in large numbers at polling booths in most of the Lok Sabha segments located in the northern districts of the state.
The early hours of voting witnessed lengthy queues, indicating a strong voter turnout. With temperatures expected to rise as the day progresses, voters seized the opportunity to cast their ballots early.
The 14 Lok Sabha segments where elections are being held today include: Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davangere, and Shimoga.
Karnataka boasts a total of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the first phase of polling conducted on April 26 across the remaining 14 seats, primarily situated in the southern and coastal districts of the state.
As the electoral process unfolds, all eyes are on the outcome, reflecting the democratic spirit and engagement of the electorate in shaping the future of the state and the nation at large.
