The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi have seen a total of 238 valid nominations received across seven constituencies, according to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer.
The nomination process, which began on April 29 and concluded on May 6, has now moved into the phase of candidate scrutiny and withdrawal, with the last date for withdrawal set for May 9.
Among the seven constituencies, the North East Delhi constituency has garnered the highest number of accepted nominations, with 45 candidates in the fray.
This is followed by East Delhi and South Delhi constituencies, which have seen 31 and 29 valid nominations accepted, respectively. Similarly, the Chandni Chowk seat has received 39 valid nominations, while New Delhi and West Delhi constituencies have garnered 29 and 30 nominations, respectively.
The North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat has seen 35 valid nominations accepted. In the upcoming elections, Delhi will witness voting across its seven Lok Sabha constituencies: New Delhi, South Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi, Chandni Chowk, North West, and North East Delhi.
As part of the seat-sharing arrangement, the Congress party is contesting three seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded candidates in four constituencies.
The Lok Sabha elections in Delhi are scheduled to take place in a single phase on May 25, with the counting of votes set for June 4. This election cycle is crucial for the political landscape of Delhi, as voters gear up to choose their representatives for the national parliament.
