Six ministers from Madhya Pradesh have maintained their positions in the newly formed Narendra Modi government, consistent with the previous term.
During the previous central government tenure, the state was represented by Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Faggan Singh Kulaste, Virendra Kumar, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Rajya Sabha member L Murugan.
Despite being a native of Tamil Nadu, Murugan was elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh.
In the third term of the Modi government, Scindia, Murugan, and Virendra Kumar were retained. Additionally, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a stalwart of the BJP and the state's four-time chief minister, Savitri Thakur from Dhar, and Durga Das Uikey from Betul were also inducted.
Tomar and Patel transitioned to roles in the Madhya Pradesh government after contesting the 2023 assembly elections, with Tomar becoming Speaker and Patel serving as a minister. However, Kulaste, who had previously held central ministerial positions four times, was not included in this term.
Chouhan's inclusion in the cabinet prompted celebrations among BJP workers outside his residence in Bhopal.
"The nation rejoices in Narendra Modi's third term as PM. Chouhan's experience will greatly benefit the country," remarked local BJP functionary Anil Agrawal Lily to PTI.
BJP workers, led by party MLA Mukesh Tandon, also celebrated Chouhan's appointment as a Union minister.
Supporters of Savitri Thakur expressed jubilation, and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav extended congratulations to all six Union ministers from the state, expressing gratitude to PM Modi for providing representation to Madhya Pradesh at the Centre.
Madhya Pradesh BJP chief VD Sharma also conveyed appreciation to PM Modi for including six MPs from the state in his government.
