In a recent Lok Sabha election, four young candidates, all Gen Z, managed to secure seats in the Parliament despite the fact that the average age of candidates in the election was around 55.

These youthful winners are from the GenZ generation and represent a shift in the political landscape. Pushpendra Saroj and Priya Saroj contested on Samajwadi Party tickets, while Shambhavi Choudhary was the youngest NDA candidate.

Sanjna Jatav, on the other hand, contested on a Congress ticket and emerged victorious in Rajasthan.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Pushpendra Saroj, 25, a Samajwadi Party (SP) member, secured a notable victory in the Kaushambi constituency. He emerged triumphant by a significant margin of 1,03,944 votes, defeating the incumbent BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar.

Notably, Pushpendra Saroj comes from a politically active family. His father, Inderjit Saroj, serves as the national general secretary of SP and has an extensive political background. He previously held the position of Uttar Pradesh Minister and served as a five-time MLA.

Interestingly, despite his father's previous loss to Sonkar in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Pushpendra Saroj managed to secure a decisive win in the recent elections.

Pushpendra Saroj entered politics after completing a B.Sc. in Accounting and Management from Queen Mary University of London.

During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the young and dynamic Priya Saroj, aged 25, bravely contested on an SP ticket in Uttar Pradesh's Machhlishahr seat. Going against the incumbent BJP MP Bholanath, Priya achieved a remarkable victory with a margin of 35,850 votes.

Notably, Priya Saroj belongs to a family with a political legacy. Her father, Toofani Saroj, has been elected as an MP three times.

In a significant win in Bihar's Samastipur constituency, Shambhavi Choudhary, running on an LJP ticket, defeated Congress's Sunny Hazari, the son of Janata Dal (United) Minister Maheshwar Hazari, by an impressive margin of over one lakh votes.

Shambhavi Choudhary, 25, who had earlier aspired to join politics, is the daughter of Ashok Choudhary, a member of the Nitish Kumar-led cabinet in Bihar. Recently, Ashok Choudhary switched from the Congress to the JD(U).

It's noteworthy that Shambhavi Choudhary's grandfather, the late Mahavir Choudhary, was also associated with the Congress and served as a state minister when the party was in power in Bihar.

Twenty-six-year-old Sanjna Jatav, a Congress candidate, secured victory in the Bharatpur seat in Rajasthan, defeating BJP's Ramswaroop Koli by a margin of 51,983 votes.

In the previous year's assembly polls in Rajasthan, she narrowly lost to Ramesh Khedi of the BJP by only 409 votes. A video posted by news agency ANI showed Sanjana Jatav dancing and others celebrating as she made history by becoming one of the youngest MPs in the country.
