In a recent gathering in Nellore district, TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu pledged financial aid of Rs 1 lakh to Muslim pilgrims visiting Mecca once the NDA, comprising TDP, BJP, and Janasena, assumes power in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to members of the Muslim community, Naidu emphasized his party's commitment to inclusivity, highlighting the TDP's past initiatives such as granting state festival status to Rotiayaan ki Eid.
Drawing attention to the TDP's track record, Naidu pointed out the establishment of an Urdu university and the construction of Haj Houses during its previous tenure.
He contrasted this with what he described as the current government's lack of support for Muslim communities, alleging that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's administration failed to invest in mosque construction.
Naidu criticised the YSRCP's alignment with national initiatives like the National Register of Citizens (NRC), contrasting it with his party's stance on safeguarding minority interests. He added that the Muslim community is known for their trust, courage and belief in hard work.
The upcoming elections for the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, scheduled for May 13, have heightened political discourse as parties vie for support ahead of the June 4 vote count.
