Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has urged the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) to reconsider their decision to boycott electoral procedures, stressing upon the importance of dialogue and cooperation in resolving disagreements.

His appeal came during the ticket distribution event for the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry.

Rio assured that upon the return of all 20 legislators from Eastern Nagaland, the state cabinet would convene to address their grievances comprehensively.

Highlighting the necessity of collaboration between the government and ENPO to address power-sharing issues for the welfare of the people, Rio denounced the perception that the proposed autonomous body would be subject to gubernatorial control, labelling it as "undemocratic."

Addressing major policy concerns in Eastern Nagaland, Rio outlined priorities such as infrastructural development, education, healthcare enhancements, income augmentation, job reservations, and expanded opportunities for higher education.

He spotlighted the unity required among geographically dispersed Naga communities sharing a common identity to shape the state's future collectively.

Responding to concerns raised by the Eastern Nagaland Legislators' Union (ENLU), Rio affirmed the government's commitment to resolving all issues through dialogue and consultation.

Rio addressed specific issues including the ongoing 3rd North East Games 2024 and the recruitment of Home Guards & Civil Defence, assuring corrective measures and personal oversight.

Regarding the recent CBI raid at FOCUS-IFAD under the Agriculture department, Rio mentioned the suspension of implicated officials pending CBI investigation.

Deputy CM Y Patton acknowledged a communication lapse leading to the absence of BJP state officials at the ticket distribution event, pledging their attendance at the upcoming meeting.

ENLU expressed discontent over the draft Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) delay by the Government of India, urging inclusive discussions among stakeholders for a permanent solution. They also appealed to ENPO to suspend the ongoing public emergency, advocating collaboration for a lasting resolution.

In a unified letter signed by all 20 ENLU members, they detailed interactions with central officials and urged constructive engagement in the peace process by all stakeholders.
