The Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Chandra Pawar (NCP-SCP) has unveiled its manifesto, titled 'Shapath Patra', for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. This manifesto outlines key promises aimed at addressing various issues concerning the citizens of India.

One of the primary commitments highlighted in the NCP (SCP) manifesto is the pledge to reduce the prices of essential commodities such as LPG gas, petrol, and diesel.

Additionally, the party has promised to enact stringent laws to ensure the safety of women and to address the issue of vacant government positions.

During the manifesto release, NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar responded to comments made by BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding farmer suicides. Pawar emphasized the need for accountability and urged Shah to address the increasing incidents of farmer suicides during the past decade.

NCP (SCP) leader Jayant Patil reiterated the party's commitment to raise pertinent issues in the parliament based on their manifesto. He highlighted concerns such as rising inflation, the plight of farmers, and the alarming levels of unemployment.

Addressing Prime Minister Modi's recent statements, Pawar expressed concerns about attempts to polarise communities based on religion and ethnicity. He emphasised the importance of national unity and condemned any rhetoric that could potentially divide the nation.

With Maharashtra set to vote in the upcoming phases of the elections on April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20, the state's significance as a key electoral battleground cannot be overstated.

Maharashtra, with its 48 Lok Sabha seats, holds substantial influence in shaping the composition of the lower house of Parliament.

In the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2019, the BJP emerged victorious in 23 out of the 25 contested seats, while the Shiv Sena secured 18 out of 23 seats. The NCP, as part of the opposition alliance, contested 19 seats and secured four victories.

Following the split in the Shiv Sena in 2022, the Eknath Shinde faction aligned with the BJP, altering the political landscape of the state.
