Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader Sharad Pawar convened a crucial meeting of the party's parliamentary board on Wednesday to finalize candidates and strategize for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Except for the Baramati constituency, the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), a key member of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance alongside Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, has yet to announce candidates for other seats.
The NCP (SP), which is led by Sharad Pawar following a split last year, aims to contest at least 10 seats, including Bhiwandi, in the upcoming elections.
Earlier today, the Shiv Sena (UBT) unveiled its initial list of 17 candidates for Maharashtra, setting the stage for a competitive electoral landscape.
The Baramati constituency, currently represented by Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule, sees her renomination in the forthcoming polls.
The meeting, held at the party's south Mumbai office, saw the participation of key leaders including Jayant Patil, Anil Deshmukh, and Jitendra Awhad.
In this development, Kamlakar Mane, a prominent leader from the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana in the Madha region, along with his supporters, formally joined the NCP (SP) during the meeting.
Stay tuned for further updates as the NCP (SP) finalises its candidates and gears up for the electoral battle ahead.
