The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is gearing up for a crucial meeting of its newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) tomorrow at the central hall of the Parliament, according to sources. The agenda of the meeting will focus on discussions regarding the formation of the government by the grand alliance.
Following the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, where the NDA surpassed the majority mark with 293 seats, including 240 seats secured by the BJP, the alliance aims to strategize its approach towards governance. Despite the BJP's reduced tally compared to its 2019 count, the coalition remains confident in its ability to lead the nation effectively.
Earlier this week, leaders of parties within the NDA convened to elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader, reaffirming their commitment to national progress and regional aspirations. PM Modi, in a social media post, expressed gratitude to the alliance partners, highlighting their shared vision of a prosperous India.
Amidst speculations, sources suggest that PM Modi is likely to take oath for a third consecutive term on June 9. While initial expectations hinted at a Saturday ceremony, an official confirmation regarding the oath-taking date is still pending.
With support from allies such as Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Nitish Kumar's JDU, who collectively secured 28 seats, the NDA stands firm with a strong mandate in the new parliament.
As per the Election Commission of India's announcement, the BJP secured 240 seats, while its allies contributed to a total of 293 seats. On the other hand, the INDIA bloc, comprising various regional parties, holds 234 seats, while the Congress secured 99 seats, posing a formidable opposition.
