Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the new Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, took charge on Tuesday, emphasising India's soft power and cultural richness. Acknowledging the voters' endorsement of PM Modi's vision for India's development, Shekhawat expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to preserving and promoting India's cultural essence, both domestically and internationally. He underscored the transition from India to Bharat, shedding colonial influences and embracing India's cultural heritage proudly.
Shekhawat emphasised the role of culture in India's soft power, encompassing art, music, dance, textiles, and more. He urged collective efforts to strengthen India's cultural fabric and weave a developed Bharat.
Having served as the Jal Shakti Minister previously, Shekhawat brings experience in implementing flagship missions like Jal Jeevan. As he assumes responsibility for Tourism, he aims to showcase Bharat globally and leverage its tourism potential, aligning with PM Modi's vision of highlighting India's natural and cultural heritage from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Upon assuming office, Shekhawat was briefed on the Ministry of Tourism's schemes and initiatives. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to promote Bharat's tourism sector and vowed to work towards its enhancement.
In the recent allocation of portfolios, Shekhawat was entrusted with the vital ministries of Tourism and Culture, signifying the government's focus on leveraging India's cultural richness and tourism potential for national development and global recognition.
