He made derogatory remarks against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee’s father and she mentioned “rates” when referring to BJP candidate from Mandi and actor Kangana Ranaut.
Underscoring the fact that such remarks had no place in politics, the Election Commission on Wednesday issued notices to BJP leader Dilip Ghosh and Congress leader Supriya Shrinate for prima facie violating the Model Code of Conduct in the run-up to the Lok Sabha Elections beginning in the country from April 19.
In its notice to Ghosh on the TMC’s complaint alleging that he had made an objectionable remark against Banerjee, the EC said the comment was offensive and prima facie violative of the MCC.
Congress social media wing chairperson Supriya Shrinate was asked by the EC to respond to a BJP complaint about her comment on Ranaut's photograph on social media being “undignified and in bad taste.”
Both Ghosh and Shrinate were asked to reply to the EC notices by Friday.
