The Election Commission of India (ECI) has efficiently handled 90% of the 425 complaints it received over the last two months, with only minor issues remaining from the Congress and BJP parties.

Expressing contentment with the campaign conduct, the ECI noted a significant improvement in the overall atmosphere, highlighting a decrease in violence, noise, and inducements.

In its recent press release, the ECI lauded the peaceful conduct of the campaign, emphasising its commitment to upholding the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). This marks the second report on MCC enforcement during the 2024 general elections, following an initial report released on April 16, 2024.

According to the ECI, out of the 425 complaints received, 400 have been addressed, with action taken promptly. Notably, the Congress, BJP, and other parties filed approximately 170, 95, and 160 complaints, respectively, most of which have been resolved satisfactorily.

The ECI also urged star campaigners, especially those from national parties, to lead by example and refrain from actions that could disrupt social harmony in the upcoming phases of the election.

Highlighting the effectiveness of the C-Vigil App, the ECI revealed that over 4,22,000 complaints were filed on the platform by May 14, 2024. Nearly 99.9% of these complaints received attention, with 88.7% resolved within an average of less than 100 minutes.

Praising the cVIGIL App's impact, the ECI noted a reduction in illegal activities such as hoarding, defacement, and unauthorised campaigning, thanks to the app's robustness. The cVIGIL App, designed to enable citizens to report MCC violations, has proven instrumental in maintaining a fair electoral process.

By making this information public, the ECI aims to keep voters and political parties informed about the measures taken to ensure a level playing field.

Led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, the Commission has taken proactive steps in cleaning up the campaign space, demonstrating its commitment to fair elections.
