As the Lok Sabha election enters its fourth phase, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have called upon citizens to fulfil their "democracy duty" by participating in the voting process.
Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that voters, particularly the youth and women, will turn out in large numbers to strengthen democracy across 10 states and Union Territories.
Amit Shah echoed this sentiment, urging voters in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir to cast their ballots in record numbers.
He emphasised the importance of forming a government committed to preserving heritage, prioritising the welfare of the underprivileged, combating Naxalism, and fostering India's development.
Voting for the fourth phase commenced today across 96 Parliamentary Constituencies spanning nine states and one Union Territory. Simultaneously, polling began for all 175 seats of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and 28 seats of the Odisha State Legislative Assembly.
Among the 96 Lok Sabha seats, notable contests are underway in various constituencies, featuring prominent leaders from different political parties. Key figures include Asaduddin Owaisi, Akhilesh Yadav, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Mahua Moitra, Giriraj Singh, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Shatrughan Sinha, Yusuf Pathan, Arjun Munda, Madhavi Latha, and YS Sharmila.
The Election Commission revealed that 1,717 candidates are contesting in phase 4 across 10 States/UTs, with a total of 4,264 nominations filed. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh witnessed the highest number of nomination forms, with Malkajgiri Parliamentary Constituency leading in nominations.
