Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a striking entrance into Assam on Tuesday evening, commencing a two-day visit with a spirited roadshow along the bustling Guwahati-Shillong Road.

PM Modi embarked on the two-kilometre procession, commencing near the state Congress headquarters at Rajiv Bhawan and concluding near the state secretariat in Dispur.

Behind barricades lining the route, jubilant crowds cheered for the BJP, brandishing party flags as PM Modi's convoy passed through.

The Prime Minister himself, donning an Assamese 'Gamosa' around his neck, reciprocated the fervour, waving back at the multitude of men and women gathered to catch a glimpse of him.

Accompanying PM Modi was Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also engaged with the crowds from a separate vehicle within the convoy.

Amid stringent security measures, including traffic regulations and a designated ''no drone fly zone,'' PM Modi's visit proceeded smoothly, with arrangements meticulously planned for both days of his stay.

Earlier in the evening, PM Modi touched down at the Lokpriya Gopinath International Airport in Guwahati, where he was warmly received by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP state unit president Bhabesh Kalita.

"Extended a warm welcome to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendraji at LGBI Airport, as he arrived on his 27th visit to Assam," Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X.

"The outpouring of emotion was abundantly evident as Modi Parivar in Guwahati turned up in large numbers to bless Adarniya @narendramodi Ji ahead of his historic third term," he added.

Reflecting on the enthusiastic reception, Chief Minister Sarma expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support extended to PM Modi during his 27th visit to Assam, underscoring the significance of the occasion as the Prime Minister prepares for his historic third term.

Following an overnight stay in Guwahati, PM Modi is slated to depart for Nalbari on Wednesday, where he will address an election rally in support of NDA candidate Phani Bhushan Choudhury of the Asom Gana Parishad.

Nalbari assembly segment, falling under the Barpeta parliamentary constituency, is scheduled for polling in the third phase on May 7, with Choudhury engaged in a competitive three-way contest against candidates from the Congress and CPI(M).
