Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress during an election rally in Chhattisgarh, criticising the party over a remark made by its Goa candidate questioning the imposition of the Constitution on the state.
Modi accused Congress of attempting to divide the country by indulging in religious appeasement and undermining the Constitution. He highlighted Congress's alleged failure to accept the participation of Dalits, Adivasis, and backward classes in governance, claiming that the party was now resorting to divisive tactics.
Referring to the Goa candidate's remark, Modi questioned whether it wasn't an insult to Babasaheb Ambedkar and the Constitution itself. He accused Congress of seeking to break the country by rejecting constitutional principles, warning that if allowed to continue, such actions could spread across the nation.
Modi also addressed Congress's allegations against the BJP, asserting that neither he nor the BJP could alter the Constitution, as even Dr. B.R. Ambedkar couldn't do so.
He criticised Congress's focus on appeasement politics and contrasted it with the BJP's agenda of inclusive development, emphasising the upliftment of the poor, women, youth, and farmers.
Modi underscored the BJP's commitment to "Sabka sath, sabka vikas" (Together with all, development for all), highlighting the government's efforts to alleviate poverty and improve the lives of 25 crore poor individuals over the past decade.
Furthermore, Modi touched upon the issue of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, accusing Congress of neglecting the sentiments of Hindus by refusing to attend the temple's consecration ceremony.
He criticised Congress for insulting saints and tribal figures and recounted instances where Congress opposed or disrespected prominent individuals from marginalised communities. Modi reassured his supporters that no harm could befall him, as he was shielded by the love and blessings of millions of mothers and countrymen.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Chhattisgarh for their support in the last assembly elections, Modi appealed to voters to support the BJP once again for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He urged them to prioritise voting and stressed that supporting the BJP-led NDA alliance would contribute to the country's development.
