In the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, slated for May 20, the electoral battleground spans across 49 seats, spread over six States and two Union Territories, hosting pivotal contests that could reshape the political landscape of India.

 

Raebareli, a bastion of the Congress party, witnesses Rahul Gandhi, also contesting from Wayanad, facing off against BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh. The constituency, deeply entrenched in Congress history, saw an emotional appeal from Sonia Gandhi, urging voters to extend their support to Rahul as they did to her.

 

Amethi, synonymous with the Gandhi family, braces for a face-off between Congress loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma and BJP's Smriti Irani. Sharma underscores the developmental legacy of the Gandhis, while Irani emphasises her leadership credentials.

 

In Lucknow, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh seeks reelection against Samajwadi Party's Ravidas Mehrotra, aiming to continue the city's progress initiated by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

 

Mumbai North gears up for a fierce battle between Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Congress' Bhushan Patil. Goyal expresses confidence in BJP's governance track record, while Patil highlights his deep-rooted local connections.

 

In Mumbai North Central, BJP introduces 26/11 prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam against Congress' Varsha Gaikwad, underscoring his commitment to national interests and legal expertise.
