Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to file his nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Lucknow on Monday, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and BJP’s UP president Bhupendra Chaudhary.
Singh is scheduled to arrive in Lucknow on Sunday evening ahead of the filing. UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak extended invitations to representatives from various social, business, religious organizations, and public figures to participate in the event.
The Deputy CM said the amount of development work done by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow had not been done in any other city of the country.
Senior BJP leader Neeraj Singh said that comprehensive details about the event are being disseminated through social media platforms for April 29.
Anand Dwivedi, the party’s Lucknow metropolitan president, said, “A number of street meetings are being organised to send the message. The work of distributing family slips is also being done. Party workers are giving slips to family heads and distributing leaflets about the development works of the Lucknow MP.”
Dwivedi outlined the nomination filing process, stating that Singh will proceed from the UP BJP office opposite the Vidhan Sabha to the collectorate on a motorized chariot, accompanied by ministers, the mayor, senior party officials, and supporters, starting at 10 a.m.
Rajnath Singh is vying for a third term as a Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow. He previously represented Ghaziabad in the Lok Sabha before contesting from Lucknow in 2014.
Lucknow and 13 other constituencies are slated to go to the polls on May 20 as part of the fifth phase of the seven-phased 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
