In a scathing critique of the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned the recent attack on a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team in Purba Medinipur district.

Prasad highlighted a concerning trend of assaults on central agencies, citing a previous incident where Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers were reportedly assaulted in the state's Sandeshkhali area.

The NIA team allegedly faced hostility while attempting to arrest two key conspirators linked to a 2022 blast case in Bhupatinagar. Prasad emphasised the importance of allowing agencies like the NIA to carry out their operations without interference, stating that prior notification to local police could compromise the effectiveness of the raids.

"This is not the first time that central agencies have been assaulted by henchmen of TMC," Prasad remarked, pointing to the incident in Sandeshkhali where ED officials were reportedly attacked. He expressed concern over what he described as a pattern of allowing "goons and terrorists" free rein in West Bengal, highlighting the need for law enforcement agencies to operate without fear or hindrance.

Taking aim at the Congress party, Prasad criticized its manifesto, suggesting it lacked a clear roadmap for the country's future. He dismissed the credibility of the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that the party's stance had lost relevance in the eyes of the public.

As he seeks re-election from the Patna Sahib constituency, Prasad expressed confidence in his candidacy and that of the broader National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar. Despite uncertainty regarding his opponents, Prasad expressed optimism about securing a "historic win" not only for himself but for all 40 NDA candidates in Bihar.
