The Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, emphasised the need for 'One Nation, One Election' during a poll rally in Rajasthan on Sunday. Singh highlighted that this approach would save time and resources for the nation, asserting that the Congress party would be the sole opposition to this idea.
He mentioned that a committee under the leadership of former President Ram Nath Kovind had submitted reports on this matter to the President, expressing hope that the people of the nation would support the initiative.
Speaking at a Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Kolayat, Rajasthan, Singh criticised the Congress party for its habit of opposing everything and stressed the benefits of 'One Nation, One Election' in terms of efficiency and resource utilisation. He was accompanied by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and other BJP leaders during the rally.
Singh also criticised the previous Congress government in Rajasthan, alleging a lack of law and order during their tenure. He commended the steps taken by the current BJP government in improving the situation and ensuring better governance in the state.
Highlighting the global prestige of India under the BJP government, Singh mentioned the country's enhanced recognition and influence on international platforms.
He pointed out the significant economic progress India has made, moving from being outside the top 10 economies to now being among the top 5, with projections to reach the top 3 by 2027.
Rajasthan is set to go to the polls in two phases, on April 19 and April 26, with a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs. The counting of votes for all 543 Lok Sabha seats across the country is scheduled for June 4, marking the conclusion of the electoral process.
