The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) disclosed its election manifesto for Sikkim on Thursday, pledging to safeguard the rights of the Sikkimese people and transform the Himalayan state into an educational hub if victorious in the Assembly elections.

In a ceremony held in the state capital Gangtok, BJP President J P Nadda launched the party's manifesto alongside BJP Sikkim in charge Dilip Jaiswal, Sikkim state president DR Thapa, and other party officials.

Declaring a departure from the dominance of regional parties, Nadda asserted, "Enough is enough, it is time Sikkim comes to join the mainstream. We have had enough of regional parties in Sikkim. We have to say goodbye to regional parties and corruption in which these regional parties are involved in."

Highlighting the BJP's vision for a people-centric, progressive, and development-focused governance, Nadda expressed aspirations for the party's symbol, the lotus, to flourish even in the mountainous terrain of Sikkim.

The 74-page manifesto outlined the BJP's commitment to preserving Article 371F and ensuring the protection of Sikkimese rights.

It further pledged to address the Limbu-Tamang seat reservation demand and establish an expert committee to examine the tribal status demand for 12 communities in Sikkim.

Additionally, the BJP promised to advocate strongly to the Central government for the inclusion of Bhutia, Lepcha, and Limbu languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian constitution.

Highlighting educational development, the manifesto proposed plans to elevate Sikkim as an educational hub and establish the Sikkim State Board of Education to incorporate the state's rich history and heritage into the school curriculum.

The BJP is set to contest 14 out of 32 Assembly seats in Sikkim, with elections scheduled for April 19.
