Union Minister and BJP candidate Smriti Irani submitted her nomination on Monday for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat, vying for a second term.
Irani clinched the seat in 2019 by defeating Congress leader Rahul Gandhi , a constituency he had been representing for 15 years. Smriti Irani won with 468,514 votes, while Rahul Gandhi received 413,394 votes.
As the Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the seat, Irani, accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and her husband Zubin Irani, led an impressive roadshow from the BJP office in Amethi to the district collectorate.
Prior to this, Irani and her husband conducted a puja at their residence and paid a visit to a temple. On Sunday, she visited Ayodhya, offering prayers at the newly constructed Ram temple.
Reflecting on her visit, Irani expressed gratitude, stating, “I consider myself fortunate to have been born in an era witnessing the journey of our Ram Lalla from a tent to a grand temple. Today, amidst the company of saints, their love and blessings not only uplift my spirits but also inspire me to continue walking the path of righteousness. Seeking blessings in the court of Hanumanji, I aspire to serve with a spirit akin to his. It's a matter of immense pride for any Sanatani to set foot on this sacred land.”
