Addressing constituents alongside Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rae Bareli MP Sonia Gandhi expressed her faith in the electorate, urging them to extend the same affection to her son Rahul as they did to her.
On the eve of the conclusion of campaigning for the fifth phase of elections, Amethi and Rae Bareli witnessed fervent canvassing.
Akhilesh Yadav, accompanied by Sonia and Priyanka, lent his support to Rahul's campaign in Rae Bareli and also rallied for Congress candidate K L Sharma in Amethi.
“Your love never left me alone. I am entrusting my son to you. The way you considered me as your own, now you have to see Rahul as your own. He will not disappoint you,” Sonia assured her constituents.
Reflecting on her three-decade-long service to Rae Bareli, Sonia hailed it as the "biggest asset" of her life and highlighted her family's enduring connection to the constituency, spanning a century.
Akhilesh Yadav rallied voters and party workers from both SP and Congress, urging them to secure a "record victory" for Rahul.
He accused BJP's Rae Bareli candidate, Dinesh Pratap Singh, of ties to the land mafia.
Taking a swipe at BJP's tactics, Akhilesh called upon Rae Bareli residents to wield their votes as a "bulldozer" against the BJP and SP MLA Manoj Pandey, who defected to the party on Friday.
Akhilesh also remarked on reports of another defection, alluding to "our second traitor."
Earlier in the day, campaigning for Congress candidate Sharma in Amethi, Akhilesh lamented the loss of respect Amethi has suffered due to BJP's actions.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AICC General Secretary, emphasized the solidarity between SP and Congress, likening their workers to a unified army.
In his address in Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sensed defeat in the elections, declaring, “Goodbye ho gayi Narendra Modi ki.”
Rahul reiterated Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's pledge, promising not just 10 kg of ration but also "dal and oil" to voters.
Recalling his earliest visits to Amethi with his father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul pledged to represent not only Rae Bareli but also Amethi as its MP.
