In a bid to ignite civic engagement, a 'Run for Vote' marathon took to the streets of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, early Sunday morning. Organised to instil a sense of responsibility among the youth, the event aimed to encourage them to cast their votes in the upcoming third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Led by the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, the marathon underscored the importance of full voter participation. Ashok B Patel, Joint CEO of SVEEP, emphasised the significance of exercising one's democratic right, urging the youth to turn out in large numbers on May 7th.

As part of the Election Commission's voter awareness campaign, a colossal Rangoli adorned the premises of a popular mall in Ahmedabad, serving as a visual reminder for citizens to fulfil their civic duty. Spanning an impressive 60×12 feet, the Rangoli featured compelling messages promoting voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Dr. Yogesh Parekh, the nodal officer spearheading various voter awareness initiatives, shed light on the meticulous efforts behind the creation of the grand Rangoli.

He revealed that it took a dedicated team 18 hours to complete the masterpiece, which utilised a whopping 350 kg of vibrant colours.

Speaking about the underlying objective, Parekh expressed the desire to elevate Ahmedabad's voting percentage by fostering a spirit of community participation.

The vibrant Rangoli served as a beacon, inviting families to come together and partake in the democratic process, with the goal of propelling Ahmedabad to the forefront of voter turnout.

With polling for 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat slated for May 7th, the state braces itself for a significant electoral exercise. As citizens prepare to cast their ballots, the 'Run for Vote' marathon and the awe-inspiring Rangoli stand as testaments to Gujarat's unwavering commitment to democratic values and active civic engagement.
