The Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency recorded an 8.98 per cent voter turnout at all polling stations by 9:00 a.m., as communicated by the Chief Election Officer of J&K.
According to officials, the voting began at 7 a.m. and has witnessed an increase in the number of people waiting to exercise their franchise.
Officials expect a good turnout similar to Srinagar and Baramulla, who voted in the fourth and fifth phases.
Srinagar witnessed a record 38 per cent turnout, surpassing its 1996 record, while Baramulla recorded its highest-ever poll percentage at 59 per cent.
Meanwhile, political parties and their candidates have requested people to come out and vote in large numbers.
More than 20 candidates are running for the newly created Anantnag-Rajouri LS seat.
Prominent candidates include PDP chief and former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, NC's Mian Altaf Larvi, and BJP-backed Apni party candidate Zafar Iqbal Minhas.
Mehbooba Mufti has previously won the seat twice, in 2004 and 2014, while the other two candidates seek their first term in Parliament.
The Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency was initially scheduled to go to the polls on May 7.
However, due to inclement weather and recommendations from several candidates, the Election Commission rescheduled the polling to May 25.
The voting will end at 6 p.m.
