In the seventh and final phase of the General Elections 2024, a voter turnout of 58.46 percent was recorded in nine Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal by 3 pm on Saturday, according to an Election Commission (EC) official.

 

Polling commenced at 7 am and is scheduled to continue until 6 pm.

 

Basirhat constituency registered the highest turnout at 66.76 percent, followed by Mathurapur at 63.66 percent, Jaynagar at 62.24 percent, Diamond Harbour at 61.08 percent, and Barasat at 59.69 percent.

 

In Jadavpur, the voter turnout stood at 56.49 percent, while Dum Dum recorded 53.06 percent, Kolkata Uttar 51.22 percent, and Kolkata Dakshin 50.61 percent, the official reported.

 

Additionally, the Baranagar by-poll saw a polling percentage of 53.4 until 3 pm.

 

The Election Commission has received 2,667 complaints till 4 pm on polling day.

 

A total of 1,63,40,345 voters, including 80,20,326 women and 538 individuals identifying as third gender, are eligible to vote across 17,470 polling stations.

 

To ensure smooth conduct of the final phase, the EC has deployed 967 companies of central forces, complemented by over 33,000 personnel from the state police.
