Women voters will decide the fate of candidates in four out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand.
Out of five seats reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates in Jharkhand, in four constituencies -- Rajmahal, Singhbhum, Khunti and Lohardaga – there are more female voters.
Notably in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, male voters were more than female voters in all the Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
But in 2024, female voters surpassed the number of male voters in Rajmahal, Singhbhum, Khunti and Lohardaga Lok Sabha seats.
The difference between male and female voters is still 4.77 lakh in Jharkhand, whereas in 2019 the difference was over 10 lakh.
In 2019, there were 1,16,98,622 male voters, while in 2024 there will be 1,29,97,325 voters.
There has been an increase of 12,98,703 male voters in five years.
In 2019 there were 1,06,65,587 female voters, whereas in 2024 it increased to 1,25,20,910. The number of women voters has increased by 18,55,323 in five years.
Female voters have increased by two lakh in two seats and more than one lakh in 10 seats. In the last five years, the number of women voters has increased by more than one lakh in 12 out of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
In Koderma and Palamu this number is more than two lakhs.
Only in Jamshedpur and Singhbhum, less than one lakh women have become new voters.
There has been an increase of 1,29,126 women voters in the Rajmahal Lok Sabha seat in five years. Similarly, women voters have increased by 1,02,461 in Dumka, 1,50,959 in Godda, 1,43,108 in Chatra, 2,00,529 in Koderma, 1,21,259 in Giridih, 1,26,530 in Dhanbad, 1,54,128 in Ranchi.
A total of 87,089 female voters have increased in Jamshedpur, 2,06,229 in Palamu, 1,18,211 in Lohardaga, 94,602 in Singhbhum, 1,09,439 in Khunti and 1,51,653 in Hazaribagh.
