TDP's Rammohan Naidu becomes youngest Union Minister in Modi Cabinet of NDA 3.0.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP-elect Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu is set to make history as the youngest-ever Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet 3.0. At 36 years old, he secured a third consecutive win from Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam constituency in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Rammohan Naidu triumphed over Tilak Perada of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) by a significant margin of 3.2 lakh votes in the elections held on May 13.

Rammohan Naidu is continuing the legacy of his father, the late senior TDP leader and former Union Minister Yerran Naidu.

Yerran Naidu, affectionately known as ‘Yerranna,’ was the youngest Minister at age 39 in 1996, serving in the cabinets of Deve Gowda and IK Gujaral in the United Front Government from 1996 to 1998.

Tragically, Yerran Naidu passed away in a road accident in 2012. He had been a four-time member of Parliament and served as the TDP’s Parliamentary leader in the Lok Sabha.

Following in his father's footsteps, Rammohan Naidu entered politics in 2012 and has been a steadfast loyalist to TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu. He served as the National General Secretary of the Chandrababu-led party. An MBA graduate and engineering degree holder from the US, Rammohan Naidu completed his schooling at the Delhi Public School in RK Puram.

In 2014, at the age of 26, Rammohan Naidu won his first Lok Sabha seat from Srikakulam, becoming the second youngest MP in the 16th Lok Sabha. In the outgoing Lok Sabha, he was the TDP’s floor leader.

Besides his parliamentary responsibilities, Rammohan Naidu has been an active member of several committees. He has served on the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Food Processing, as well as the standing committees on Railways and Home Affairs, the Consultative Committee on the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes and the Official Language Department during the 16th Lok Sabha.

Rammohan Naidu’s commendable work earned him the Sansad Ratna Award in 2020 for his extraordinary performance as an MP. He has also been a vocal advocate for gender rights and education.

His decision to take paternity leave during the 2021 budget sessions for his wife’s pregnancy sparked important discussions on these topics. Notably, he is one of the first MPs to advocate for menstrual health education and sex education in parliament, and he has actively campaigned for the removal of GST on sanitary pads.

As Rammohan Naidu prepares to take on his new role in Modi’s Cabinet, his journey reflects a blend of youthful energy and a deep-rooted political legacy. His achievements and advocacies highlight his commitment to public service and his dedication to addressing pressing social issues.
