Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the UT of Jammu and Kashmir is seeing progress and witnessing an era of development under PM Modi’s government that had never been seen before.
He added that what was once known as a hotbed of terrorism has now transformed into a tourist hot spot.
The region has transformed from a terrorist hotspot into a tourist hotspot, with an increase in educational and economic activities.
Shah added, “Leaving for Jammu on my two-day visit, where I will launch the BJP’s Sankalp Patra today and interact with our karyakartas tomorrow at the Karyakarta Sammelan.”
He shared the post before leaving for his two-day official visit to Jammu and Kashmir to kickstart BJP’s poll campaign for the fourth coming assembly elections.
BJP has named 40-star campaigners for the J&K elections who will lead the party’s campaign. Among the star campaigners are PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Party national president JP Nadda and others including G Kishen Reddy and Smriti Irani.
They are likely to visit J&K in the coming days.
The party has decided not to contest eight seats, mostly from militancy-affected south Kashmir. Other than that, the BJP has expressed confidence in winning 45 seats in the upcoming elections.
The big names from the party, including UT poll in-charge Ram Madhav, the Party’s UT chief Ravinder Raina, and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, have said that the BJP can form its own govt in the UT without alliances.
Though that seems unlikely a star-studded lineup as poll campaigners is likely to boost the party’s chances of winning a sizeable number of seats, particularly in the Jammu division where it’s facing a resurgent Congress.
It's interesting to see whether or not the party makes any inroads in the Kashmir Valley in the upcoming assembly polls.
