Abhishek Bachchan has been cast as the villain in an upcoming film called King by filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh. The movie reportedly features Shah Rukh Khan and, for the first time, his daughter Suhana. Amitabh Bachchan confirmed this news on X.
Amitabh Bachchan shared a news report from a fan page account on X, sending his best wishes to his son for his upcoming role. On the microblogging site, he wrote, "All the best Abhishek .. It is TIME."
The news report shared by Amitabh reveals that Abhishek will be playing the antagonist in the film, and Siddharth Anand, the director of Pathaan, has choreographed the action scenes. However, the roles of Shah Rukh and Suhana in the film have been kept secret.
Backed by Siddharth's Marflix Pictures and Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment, King is scheduled to start filming later this year and is expected to be released in theatres around 2025 or early 2026.
Sujoy, known for directing films such as Kahaani and Badla, most recently directed the Netflix thriller Jaane Jaan, which features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma. Previously, he collaborated with Abhishek on the 2021 film Bob Biswas, a spin-off of the 2012 thriller Kahaani.
Abhishek and Shah Rukh have appeared in multiple films together, including Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and Farah Khan's Happy New Year (2014).
In addition to Shah Rukh, Abhishek is also set to appear in Tarun Mansukhani’s Housefull 5, which will also feature Akshay Kumar, Pooja Hegde, Riteish Deshmukh, and Kriti Kharbanda.
