Several film stars from across the industry have stepped up to give their best in the political space. They are contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

A rumour that recently did the rounds was Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will also join the fray.

Reports suggest that he was in talks with the Indian National Congress Party and was expecting a ticket from the party.

However, the actor has taken to platform X to put an end to all the speculations.

Dutt has refuted such rumours. The Bollywood star clarified that he is not joining any political party nor is he competing in the upcoming election.

“I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now,” his post on X reads.

In 2009, Dutt had joined the Samajwadi Party, but he failed to make a difference and resigned as general secretary of the party.

It was learnt in 2019 that Dutt was joining Rashtriya Samaj Paksh. At that time, Dutt had cleared in a statement that he was not entering politics. However, he gets associated with politics often as his father Sunil Dutt was an MP of the Congress party and served as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (2004-2005).

Many actors are contesting this year. The biggest name was Kangana Ranaut, who got a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. Veteran actor Arun Govil, who famously played Hindu God Ram in the TV show Ramayan, is contesting from Meerut for the same party. Star couple Sarathkumar and Radikaa of Tamil Nadu joined the BJP and the female actor is contesting the election for the party from Virudhunagar.
