Alia Bhatt and Sharvari have been cast as super-agents in the upcoming Spy Universe film "Alpha" by Yash Raj Films, as announced by the makers on Friday.

 

The film, titled "Alpha," will be the first female-led YRF Spy Universe movie and will be directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously directed YRF's Netflix series "The Railway Men."

In "Alpha," the actresses will enter the spyverse, which already includes successful titles such as "Pathaan" and the "Tiger" and "War" franchises.

 

Reports have suggested that Alia and Sharvari would be the leads in the female-led spy movie, which was produced by YRF's Aditya Chopra.

 

In the title reveal video, Alia can be heard saying, "Greek alphabet ka sabse pehla akshar. Aur humare programme ka motto.. sabse pehle, sabse tezz, sabs veer. Dhyaan se dekho toh har sheher mein ek jungle hai. Aur jungle mein hamesha Raj karega.. ALPHA!" The YRF Spy Universe was launched back in 2012 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's "Ek Tha Tiger". Its success spawned two sequels "Tiger Zinda Hai" (2017) and "Tiger 3" (2023).

 

In 2019, "War" featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff was released, and this was followed by "Pathaan" in 2023, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

 

Upcoming projects from the banner include "Alpha," a sequel to "War" with Hrithik and NTR Jr., "Pathaan," a sequel with Shah Rukh, and Tiger vs. Pathaan, featuring Salman and Shah Rukh.
