Actor Ameesha Patel recently shared insights into her creative disagreements with filmmaker Anil Sharma during the making of the 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2.

 

The film, also starring Sunny Deol, achieved massive commercial success but left Ameesha feeling disappointed with certain creative decisions, particularly regarding the climax.

 

In a recent interview on the YouTube channel Jarp, Ameesha revealed that the climax of Gadar 2 was altered without her knowledge, diminishing her character Sakeena's promised pivotal role.

 

Ameesha explained that she had initially been told her character would kill the villain in the climax, avenging her father's hanging. However, the final version excluded this element entirely.

 

She admitted feeling betrayed by the changes, stating, “It was creative stress between us because the climax was shot without my knowledge. Even Sunny didn’t kill anyone. It was just a random climax, unfortunately.”

 

Ameesha expressed her belief that Sakeena’s revenge was integral to the story, a sentiment echoed by her co-stars. Despite her disappointment, she acknowledged her long-standing bond with Anil Sharma, whom she considers family.

 

“I know Anil Sharma has a soft spot for me. I’ve known him for 24-25 years. But, of course, you get hurt and feel cheated, then you move on in life,” she added.

 

Regarding a potential Gadar 3, Ameesha expressed her willingness to return but laid out specific conditions. She emphasised that the narrative must centre around Tara and Sakeena, and this time, all agreements must be documented.

 

“The film has to revolve around Tara and Sakeena. There shouldn’t be just faith in word of mouth; everything should be contractual. That’s something I overlooked during Gadar 2,” she noted.

 

Ameesha reflected on her earlier trust in relationships and professionalism, adding that mature discussions and clear agreements are essential moving forward.

 

Despite the creative differences, Gadar 2 remains one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. The movie featured Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, and Simrat Kaur in pivotal roles, with its powerful storyline and nostalgic appeal winning over audiences nationwide.
