Excitement mounts as the 96th Academy Awards ceremony draws near, with cinephiles eagerly anticipating the recognition of their favorite films and performances.

 

Emmy Award-winning comedian Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the prestigious event for the second consecutive year. 

 

The ceremony, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

 

Christopher Nolan's historical epic "Oppenheimer" leads the pack with a significant 13 nominations, encompassing Best Picture, Best Director, and acting nods for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and Emily Blunt. 

 

Joining "Oppenheimer" in the Best Picture category are an array of acclaimed films: "American Fiction," "Anatomy of a Fall," "Barbie," "The Holdovers," "Killers of the Flower Moon," "Maestro," "Past Lives," "Poor Things," and "The Zone of Interest."

 

The Best Director category boasts a stellar lineup, featuring Nolan for "Oppenheimer" and the legendary Martin Scorsese for "Killers of the Flower Moon." Joining them in the race are Jonathan Glazer ("The Zone of Interest"), Yorgos Lanthimos ("Poor Things"), and Justin Triet ("Anatomy of a Fall").

 

Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" garnered a total of 10 nominations, including Best Actress for Lily Gladstone and Best Supporting Actor for Robert De Niro. 

 

Greta Gerwig's critically acclaimed "Barbie" secured eight nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, and Best Song.
