Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has responded to the criticism surrounding his comments on the alleged theft of donations linked to Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.

In a video shared on his Instagram account, in which he is seen wearing a saffron scarf, Kher addressed the heated debate. Justifying his stand, he talked about his rich experience and his habit of speaking out his mind, no matter what the situation was, because the truth frightens people the most when it goes against their own interests. According to him, the recent statements that he made on theft from the temple were completely honest, and he takes full responsibility for everything he said.

However, Kher then went ahead to say that some critics are more interested in making up grievances than revealing truths, stating that the critics love debate and noise. Kher went further to state that the words he said had been misconstrued and distorted by trolls, influencers, and even politicians, yet no matter what pressure he faced, he would not change his position. He concluded his video message by stating that he will continue to say exactly what he believes to be right, leaving others to agree or disagree as they wish, before signing off with "Jai Shri Ram".

The backlash followed reports that Kher had described the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir theft case as a "minor issue" when compared to the plunder and destruction of temples that occurred during the Mughal era. The actor also recently announced that his next film project will be titled 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi'.
