Rapper Badshah found himself in the centre of a controversy when a tweet about global pop sensation Dua Lipa sparked massive backlash online.
It all began when Badshah posted “Dua Lipa” followed by a red heart emoji on Saturday. Curious fans were quick to ask if a collaboration was coming soon.
In reply, the rapper wrote: “Id rather make babies with her bro. (sic)”
The comment didn’t go down well with the netizens and a massive wave of criticism followed.
Social media users called out Badshah for what they termed “disrespectful” and “objectifying” comment towards women.
The rapper was accused of misogyny, and reducing a woman’s worth to just a reproductive role or physical appeal.
In a failed attempt to clarify his comment, Badshah tweeted again, saying, “I think one of the most beautiful compliments that you could give to a woman that you really admire is to wish for her to mother your children. Meri soch nahi tumhari soch saamne aayi hai.”

However, this explanation further fuelled the fire. Angry netizens accused Badshah for shifting the blame onto others’ interpretation. They said the rapper’s remark reflected his own mindset.
Lipa is an Albanian singer and is popular for songs such as "Levitating", "New Rules" and "Training Season" among others. She visited India in November last year, during which she performed in Mumbai, as a part of her Radical Optimism tour.
