Fans been desperately waiting for acclaimed screenwriter and director Charlie Kaufman’s long-gestating film “Later The War”. Well, the wait seems to be over!
After multiple delays and hiccups, things are finally moving on the project with actors Channing Tatum, Tessa Thompson and Patsy Ferran set to start shooting for next year.
Tatum’s role in the comedic drama was previously to be played by Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne.
Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum of Waypoint Entertainment will produce “Later The War” alongside Sarah Green.
The film, according to reports, is a loose adaptation of “Debby’s Dream House” written by author Iddo Gefen, and was part of the short story collection “Jerusalem Beach.”

Gefen’s original story “follows a man who manufactures dreams and nightmares for others, including for his own wife,” which certainly sounds a lot like it could be similar to other Kaufman projects from the past.
A logline of the project says: “Tatum plays Peekman, a wildly popular actor-director, famous for blockbuster physical comedies in which he stars with his wife Kiki (played by Thompson). The more successful he becomes, the more he begins to suspect that deep down, he has nothing to say.”
Tatum joins the project straight off a massive win at Sundance where Beth de Araújo’s “Josephine” swept both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize
Meanwhile, Tessa has been keeping busy both in front of and behind the camera with her production company, Viva Maude. She was recently seen in Nia DaCosta’s “Hedda” or in Netflix thriller “His & Hers”, a project she also executive produced.
Ferran will be seen next in Joel Coen’s gothic thriller “Jack of Spades” opposite Josh O’Connor and Lesley Manville.
