The much-awaited British Band, Coldplay is returning to India after an eight-year hiatus with their concert -- “Music of the Spheres World Tour”-- had the fans all over the moon for many months now.

However, major problems erupted when seconds before the ticket sales went live on the online ticketing platform, BookMyShow crashed, both on the website and phone, leaving the fans with disheartened high hopes.

Coldplay is scheduled to arrive in Navi Mumbai on January 18-19, 2025, at DY Patil sports stadium.

On Sunday noon, when the tickets went live, fans all over the nation visited the online site to book tickets for the much-awaited concert.

However, the site crashed within seconds, and users reported the site was down for almost fifteen minutes as some only saw tickets being available at 12:18 PM.

Even those who entered the booking dashboard were left behind hundreds- thousands of people in the queue, dismaying all the possibility for a ticket.

By then social media was flooded with complaints about the website, claiming BookMyShow was not prepared.

A fan on X said, “#coldplay Mumbai concert queue is much longer than any IPO stat.” Another user jested, “It’s 12:23 and still shows 'Coming Soon' @bookmyshow you weren’t prepared.”

Witnessing the increase in demand, at 1:30 PM, another show was added to the list, on January 21. But it was of no help to the fans, as the long queue list had their dreams crushed.

Fans can though still relish the keenly awaited concert as the British Band made the concert economical by giving an opportunity to admirers to avail of tickets with the help of ‘Infinity Tickets’, priced at Rs 2000.

The idea was to allow fans to watch live Coldplay at relatively lesser costs. All one must do is sign up for the ‘Infinity Tickets’ at Coldplay's official website.

“Infinity Tickets are assigned randomly throughout the venue, meaning fans could end up anywhere—from the farthest row to the floor or even in the best seats in the house,” according to the official website of the band.
